Crabtree Creek Cleanup
Wake Audubon participates in the Adopt-a-Stream program. This program involves cleaning trash from waterways and bottomland corridors so that these areas are clear of unsightly refuse and safer for both wildlife and people. Our section lies along Crabtree Creek between Raleigh Blvd. and Atlantic Ave.
We usually conduct stream cleanups semiannually. Our spring cleanup coincides with the Neuse Riverkeepers’ annual cleanup event, ordinarily the first Saturday in April. In addition, we may hold another cleanup in late summer or early fall. Cleanups run during the morning. The city and the Neuse Riverkeepers provide trash bags and gloves for us. We meet at the gravel parking lot on Crabtree Blvd. between Raleigh Blvd. and Capital Blvd. (the parking lot for the Buckeye Trail and the Crabtree Creek Greenway).
