Swift Community Stake-out – 2015

slider_chimney_swifts.jpgSee Chimney Swifts swirl into urban chimneys that you might not know about – and that might not exist in a few more years.

  • Every Sunday in September – 6:00 pm – Meet in front of the globe of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences on Jones St. We will stroll downtown to witness the Chimney Swifts swirling into the chimney.

Special Event: Sunday, August 23rd, 2015, 7:30 p.m. until the swifts go to roost (dusk)

Locations – Wake Audubon volunteers will be present at these locations

1.  Professional Building viewed from News and Observer parking deck at 127 W. Hargett St. Meet Gerry Luginbuhl at the “globe” by the Nature Research Center 121 West Jones Street and walk to the viewing location. Free parking available on West Jones Street.


2.  Dillon Supply Company, 223 South West Street, Raleigh. Meet the Wake Audubon volunteer at the corner of West and Hargett Streets in downtown Raleigh. Free parking available on the street.

3.  Carnage Middle School, 1425 Carnage Drive, Raleigh. Meet John Gerwin at the corner of Peterson Street and Carnage Drive, in SE Raleigh.  This is across the from Walnut Creek Wetland Center. 4.  Stone Warehouse, 500 East Davie Street, Raleigh. Meet John Connors in front of building. There is free parking available on East Davie Street.
